DE: BASSART - SNAFU EP
Wir befinden uns inmitten von zahlreichen Umbrüchen. Fast drei Jahre Corona inklusive vielen Beschränkungen und Maßnahmen, die heute zum Glück teilweise wieder kritisch hinterfragt werden dürfen. Seit Ende Februar 2022 herrscht in der Ukraine Krieg und die daraus resultierende Wirtschaftskrise bringt viele Menschen zum Zweifeln.
Ursprünglich kommt der Begriff SNAFU für „Situation Normal, All Fucked Up“ oder „Situation normal, all fouled up“ aus dem Militär (deutsch etwa: „Lage normal, alles im Arsch“). Sinngemäß kommt dies der Redensart „Operation geglückt, Patient tot“ gleich.
Genauso fühlt sich die aktuelle Weltlage an. Die gewählten Volksvertreter bringen teilweise absurde Maßnahmen, um wenigsten den Schein zu wahren, dass sie etwas für die da unten tun. So erinnerte ich mich an das SNAFU-Prinzip aus der Romantrilogie Illuminatus! von Robert Shea und Robert Anton Wilson, die ich vor über 25 Jahren zum ersten mal las.
Der Grundtenor des SNAFU-Prinzips besagt, dass Kommunikation nur zwischen Gleichen oder auf gleicher Ebene möglich ist. Heißt niemand weiß gottverdammt nochmal, was da oben oder unten (je nachdem wo man steht) los ist und der andere tut.
Es gibt daher auch scheinbar keinen Dialog mehr, sondern nur noch richtig oder falsch, rechts oder links, Querdenker/Andersdenker/Schwurbler oder Extreme/Experten, Mainstream oder Underground – kurz gesagt: All Fucked Up.
Im Roman Illuminatus! beschreibt SNAFU 5 Phasen, die sich im Laufe der Geschichte immer wiederholen, wobei die letzte bisher immer mit dem Untergang einer Zivilisation endete:
1. Verwirrung
2. Zwietracht
3. Unordnung
4. Beamtenherrschaft
5. Grummet
Aktuell, glaube ich, befinden wir uns irgendwo zwischen Beamtenherschafft und GRUMMET. Als überzeugter Optimist glaube ich natürlich an ein besseres Ende wie beim Römischen Reich oder Babylon. Wenigstens sollte dem SNAFU-Prinzip gerade jetzt mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden und darum habe ich für Eris (Göttin der Zwietracht und des Chaos) die Tracks geschrieben.

We are in the midst of numerous upheavals. Almost three years of Corona including many restrictions and measures. War has been raging in Ukraine since the end of February 2022 and the resulting economic crisis is causing many people to have doubts.
The term SNAFU originally came from the military for "Situation Normal, All Fucked Up" or "Situation normal, all fouled up". This is analogous to the saying "operation successful, patient dead".
This is exactly how the current situation feels. Some of the politicians bring absurd measures to at least pretend that they are doing something for those down there. This is how I remembered the SNAFU principle from the Illuminatus! trilogy of novels by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, which I first read over 25 years ago.
The basic tenor of the SNAFU principle states that communication is only possible between equals or on the same mind level. Means nobody knows the goddamn thing what's going on up there or down there (depending on where you are) and the other is doing.
So there seems to be no more dialogue, only right or wrong, right or left, lateral thinkers/dissident thinkers/sworn or extreme/experts, mainstream or underground - in short: All Fucked Up.
In the novel Illuminatus! SNAFU describes 5 phases that are repeated throughout history ending with the fall of a civilization:
1. Verwirrung
2. Zwietracht
3. Unordnung
4. Beamtenherrschaft
5. Grummet
Currently, I think we are somewhere between Beamtenherrschaft and GRUMMET. As a convinced optimist, I naturally believe in a better ending, like that of the Roman Empire or Babylon. At least more attention should be paid to the SNAFU principle right now and that's why I wrote the tracks for Eris (goddess of discord and chaos).
